A Day on The Mornington Peninsula, With Lively 

So, you’ve travelled to the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, settled into your Lively Accommodation and are now no wondering, what next? With the hundreds of things to do, places to see, food to eat and things to experience in this stunning part of the world, it can be overwhelming to make sure you spend your time wisely and get the most out of what little time you may have here. At Lively, we can help with a lot more than just your accommodation, and are passionate about pointing you in the right direction of all our ‘must-sees’. Grab a glass of wine and unwind as we take you through a number of possible itineraries for your holiday.

Day 1: The Luxury Traveller 

For those looking to indulge and treat themselves to a luxurious and relaxing day on the Mornington Peninsula.

Begin Rosebud, End Merricks North.

Breakfast: Hobson, Rosebud 

Start your day with a beautiful coffee and breakfast at Rosebud’s Hobson. With its art deco inspired and modern interior and an inner city feel, it poses as the perfect start to your day. Enjoy a cup of coffee with one of their classic, or unique breakfast options or indulge in a morning mimosa.

AM: Walk along Rosebud foreshore

Take a moment after your breakfast to stroll along the rosebud foreshore, and let the beautiful ocean views start off your relaxing day on holiday right. There is a large playground for the kids to enjoy, or miles of sand to lounge on for the morning. You could even choose to enjoy your Hobson feast takeaway, and enjoy it on the glorious sandy beach. 

Lunch: Thyme at Alba Springs

After your relaxing morning, travel to Fingal to enjoy an afternoon at Alba Springs, The Mornington Peninsula’s newest thermal springs and spa experience. Begin with a dining experience at their on-site restaurant Thyme for lunch, and prepare for an afternoon of serenity. 

PM: Alba Spa, Spa and Bathing experience. 

Choose from Alba Thermal Springs three half day options, The Pier, The Pillars, and The Pines, all combining Spa treatments with their Thermal Spring experience to allow you a taste of all they have to offer at their beautiful new location. This luxurious experience is the perfect special addition to your holiday on the Mornington Peninsula, and will no doubt leave you feeling fully rejuvenated. 

Dinner: Doot, Doot, Doot, Jackalope 

Finish your day with a dinner at Doot, Doot, Doot, Jackalope, a premium dining experience at one of The Peninsula’s most famous wineries. Its playful and creative fine-dining menu is award winning and consists of fresh and locally sourced produce. Their four course a la carte dining experience is available from 6pm each night. 

 

Day 2: The Savvy Traveller

For those seeking out affordable activities that still allow them to make the most of their time on the Mornington Peninsula. Begin Rosebud, End Rye.

Breakfast: The Bagelry Co., Rosebud 

The Bagelry Co. Rosebud serves a delicious selection of fresh bagels with Allpress coffee. They have bacon and egg, salmon, roast beef, and vegetarian options, made fresh every day!

AM: Arthurs Seat Eagle

In the Morning, head up to the peak of Arthurs Seat via the Arthurs Seat Eagle, a gondola that travels up the side of the mountain. Experience unmatched views and an easy way to access the peak without having to drive up yourself. Purchase return tickets to make your way down later. 

Lunch: Picnic at Seawinds 

Visit Seawinds for a lunchtime picnic. It’s a beautiful parkland with gorgeous views, large trees for shelter and miles of green picnic area. If you’re lucky, you’ll see some of the many kangaroos that call this area home. Settle in and enjoy your picnic, relax in the sun, or play on the nearby playgrounds. 

PM: Arthurs Seat Circuit Walk, Dromana 

After your picnic, participate in The Arthurs Seat Circuit walk, a 1.8km track featuring stunning views of the Mornington Peninsula coastline. It could easily take you less than an hour to complete, but allow yourself time to explore the environment, as you travel through all the major parks and attractions of the area. 

Dinner: Fish and Chips on Rye Beach

Finish off your day with a classic Mornington Peninsula experience of enjoying a fish and chip meal at the beach. Relax on the Rye foreshore, go for an evening swim and fight off seagulls as you eat and watch the sunset, unwinding from your day. 

 

Day 3: The Adventurer 

For those looking for a little more adventure in their day, with a focus on outdoors and the beautiful environment of this part of the world.

Begin Dromana, End Merricks.

Breakfast: Laneway Espresso, Dromana 

Start off your day with a hearty breakfast at Laneway Espresso. Enjoy a big egg and bacon breakfast or heirloom avocado toast with a coffee to ensure you’re energised and ready for the day. You may even wish to choose from their selection of pastries and sandwiches to take with you, and keep you sustained throughout the big day ahead. 

AM: Two Bays Walking Track, Dromana to Capel Sound

Today, you will be attempting the Two Bays Walking Track, the most continuous walking track on the Mornington Peninsula. Stretching 26km through diverse terrain, it’s the perfect way to get a taste for all that this rich environment has to offer. Choose whether to complete the whole track, or simply enjoy a small section of it. Visit the attached link for the different section options available, as well as more information on the trail. 

Lunch: Pause on your way for a lunch break, either enjoying a picnic filled with local produce from one of the Peninsula’s many independent grocers, or a pre-bought lunch from a local cafe. Sit back and take in all the beauty that the Mornington Peninsula has to offer and unwind before the second half of your adventure. 

PM: Complete the Two bays walking track. 

Dinner: Point Leo Estate, Merricks 

Finish your day with a well earnt meal at Point Leo Estate and explore the wonderful Sculpture garden by dusk. Indulge in their premium food offerings at any of their three dining options, and their iconic Point Leo Estate wines. Combine indulgence with creativity and wonder, during your time at this exceptional location. 

 

Day 4: The Food and Wine Connoisseur

For those travelling to experience all the premium food and wines the Mornington Peninsula has to offer.

Begin Sorrento, End Mornington.

Meal at the Port Phillip Estate.

Breakfast: Buckley, Sorrento 

Begin your day of indulgence with a premium breakfast at Buckley Sorrento. Located at the end of the main hub, enjoy great breakfast with a specialty coffee, their extensive menu bound to satisfy just about anyone’s craving. Opt to fill up for the day with their chilli scrambled eggs or buttermilk pancakes, or save some room for later, and snack on their selection of pastries and sweets.

AM: Montalto Winery  

Montalto Winery is a family-owned winery that offers great food and wine to guests. A local favourite on the Mornington Peninsula, you’ll be sure to be satisfied by their premium wines and dining experience, overlooking rolling hills of vineyards and farmland. Enjoy a wine tasting at their cellar door, before purchasing a bottle to enjoy in one of their many picnic areas. You may also choose to snack on a woodfired pizza, or grazing board whilst you unwind.

Lunch: Port Phillip Estate

Travel 10 minutes into Red Hill to Port Phillip Estate and settle into their dining room, with breathtaking views of the stunning surrounds. This gourmet dining experience led by head chef Stuart Deller is renowned for their ‘casually sophisticated dining’. Enjoy their premium menu featuring local produce and quality ingredients, whilst sipping on their Port Phillip Estate and Kooyong wines.

PM: Jimmy Rum, Dromana

After a full lunch, travel towards Dromana for a relaxing drink at Jimmy Rum, a relaxing rum distillery and cocktail bar, where their casual outdoor setting allows for the perfect place to unwind on a summer afternoon. Perhaps you could engage in a Rum tasting and tour of the distillery, or simply enjoy an espresso martini or mojito in the sun.

Dinner: The Rocks, Mornington

Travel to the base of Mornington Pier to The Rocks and indulge in excellent seafood and meat dishes, all whilst overlooking the stunning coastline and complimenting your meal with local wines and delicious cocktails. This restaurant reflects a deep care for the coast, in its choice to provide sustainably sourced, fresh seafood, and the perfect location to end your day of food and wine on the Mornington Peninsula.

  

Day 5: The Family Day Out

For the families that are looking to keep the kids entertained for the day.

The Winey Cow is a Mornington favourite. Choose from their broad all-day menu, that has all your brunch favourites as well as some Asian-influenced features. Choose from their smashed avo, pork belly bao or brekkie bowl to start your day, accompanied by a cup of their specialty coffee or delicious smoothies.

AM: Enchanted Adventure, Tree Surfing  

Enchanted Adventure is fun-filled location for the whole family to enjoy. This morning, participate in their exciting tree surfing adventure! Tree surfing, a challenge spread over 50 aerial obstacles and 5 different levels that include bridges, rock climbing walls, ziplines and swings, is suitable for the whole family, with a nipper’s version for smaller children. With your tree-surfing ticket, you’ll also get general admission to their miles of picnic ground and mazes, and their many other experiences to adventure through,

Lunch: Picnic at Enchanted Adventure  

Enjoy the stunning grounds of Enchanted Adventure by setting up a lunchtime picnic. Bring local produce with you to enjoy, or simply buy a snack from the onsite café.

PM: Top Fun Shack, Rosebud

Travel into Rosebud to Top Fun Shack, and keep the kids busy for the afternoon with arcade games, mini golf and 10 pin bowling, all under the one roof. Just minutes from the beach, you can be guaranteed a no fuss and fun filled afternoon, with plenty to entertain the kids, and parents alike!

Dinner: D.O.C Pizza, Mornington 

D.O.C Pizza is a Mornington institution, loved and often frequented by many locals. Serving the best Pizza and Pasta, local wines, cocktails and delicious desserts, their menu is sure to be enjoyed by the whole family. Located in the middle of main street Mornington it’s conveniently located and a great spot to wrap up the day!
