Lively Top Walks on the Mornington Peninsula

The Mornington Peninsula is home to some of the most beautiful scenery, beaches and landscapes Australia has to offer. Taking advantage of the beautiful coastline and state parks will only enrich your trip and satisfy your sense of adventure. See below for a number of exciting walks to choose from, all ranging in difficulty and location, and make the most of your time in this incredible area.

Two Bays Walking Track, McCrae to Cape Schank

Starting this list off with a big one, the Two Bays Walking track is a grade 3, 26.5km hike, starting at Latrobe Parade McCrae and stretching all the way to the Cape Schanck lighthouse. For walking enthusiasts this could be completed in one full day, or broken into two. Otherwise, jump on for a small stent and walk as far (or as little) as you’d like!

Daveys Bay to Candian Bay Clifftop Walk, Mount Eliza

This walk stretches the beautiful beaches, clifftops and local streets of Mount Eliza. Enter Davey’s Bay Beach via Yamala Drive Frankston South. Follow the beach along, and travel up the stairs to the clifftop path. See beautiful coast side homes and coastal views, and continue all the way into Mount Eliza village, or Canadian Bay Beach via surrounding streets. Stop for a coffee or snack in the village, and a swim on your return!

Red Hill Rail Trail, Red Hill To Merricks

Walk along the old railway line from Red Hill to Merricks and back along the picturesque track, with glimpses of the bay highlighting your way. Stop for a bite to eat at Merricks General Store, or take a picnic to eat in the shade. It is a 13km walk return taking just over 3 hours to complete on average.

Point Nepean Walking Track

The Point Nepean Walking Track is a 14.5km circuit that will take you right to the edge of the Peninsula, allow you to explore historic fortifications and gun emplacements and adventure through Moonah woodlands, all whilst providing stunning views of the Bass Strait.

Arthurs Seat Circuit Walk

This light, level one walk provides brilliant views of Port Phillip Heads and the bay. It’s a 1.8km circuit and can be quite easily completed in under an hour. It will take you to all the major lookout points as well as a number of the parks and attractions towards the summit of Arthurs Seat. Take a picnic to enjoy in any of their many picnic spots, or visit the Eagle cafe for a bite to eat.
